8P Cable Introduction
8P Cable are used to connect devices with a GH1.25-8P charging port to a standard USB port. The GH1.25-8P port is commonly found on smartphones and other mobile devices, while USB ports are ubiquitous on computers and chargers.
The cable has a USB Type-A male connector on one end that fits into a USB port. The other end has a GH1.25-8P female socket that the device charging port connects to.
This allows the device to be charged or powered through its GH1.25-8P port using a standard USB connection. No special charging brick is needed, as any USB port or adapter can be used.
GH1.25-8P ports support higher current fast charging standards like Quick Charge. However, standard USB ports only supply up to 500mA. To prevent overloading the USB port, these cables contain a current limiting resistor.
This resistor regulates the current to 500mA-1A, allowing safe, slower charging from a USB port but not the full fast charging capability. It provides a fallback charging option when a high power adapter isn’t available.
USB A to GH1.25-8P cables are very convenient for charging compatible devices using widespread USB connectivity. They make use of existing USB infrastructure without needing special power adapters.
The cables are widely used for smartphones, tablets, power banks and other mobile devices that support higher current charging standards through their GH1.25-8P port.

Frequently Asked Questions
8P Cable
What is a GH1.25-8P port?
+
–
The GH1.25-8P port is a type of charging port used by some smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. It allows for higher current input than a standard USB port, enabling faster charging.
What devices use GH1.25-8P ports?
+
–
Many smartphone brands use GH1.25-8P ports, including Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. Some tablets and other mobile devices may also use this port type.
Why do I need a USB A to GH1.25-8P cable?
+
–
If your device has a GH1.25-8P port but you only have standard USB chargers and adapters, a 8P Cable allows you to still charge your device, just at a slower rate.
Will it charge at the full speed of the GH1.25-8P port?
+
–
No, since USB ports only provide up to 500 mA (2.5W), while GH1.25-8P ports support higher currents up to 2A or more. The cable has a current limit resistor to prevent overloading the USB port, so charging will be slower.
What are they used for?
+
–
They enable basic or “trickle” charging when a higher power adapter for the GH1.25-8P port is unavailable. They allow you to still charge the device using standard USB ports and adapters.
